Michael Tope is a native of Arizona and third generation in insurance related industries. He attended Arizona State University on a Track and Field scholarship. Majored in International Business, was a member of the 1981 Pac 10 Championship Track Team and participated in the 1980 Olympic Trials. Michael founded CBR in December of 1997 after several years of monitoring the growth of the HR Outsourcing industry. He is firm believer that with the evolution of technology and competition from emerging markets, the shift to outsource non-profit producing activities to remain competitive has never been more relevant. Michael is involved locally and nationally with NAPEO.
Camille joined CBR in 2005 and has played an integral part of the culture and infrastructure of CBR. She is responsible for oversight of the human resources, benefits, payroll, training and systems divisions. Camille drives HR compliance and strategies for all CBR clients and their employees as well as assists businesses with improving human resources processes, performance management and leadership development programs. She has more than 15 years experience with human resources and payroll in senior management level positions. She also has independently consulted for several small-to medium-sized companies. Camille earned her Masters of Business Administration and she holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources certification (SPHR). She is heavily involved in the human resources and PEO industry and is an active member of many professional organizations to include: NAPEO (National Association of Professional Employment Organizations) where she participates on the Immigration Task Force and elected to reside as chairperson for the NAPEO Arizona Leadership Counsel for 2009 & 2010, SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management), elite member of NAPW (National Association of Professional Women) and EAGP (Executive Association of Greater Phoenix). In 2009 Camille was named HR Director of the Year in the small business category by AZ Big Media.
Mark is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial activities of the company. He brings to CBR more than 25 years experience as a senior financial executive with companies in the manufacturing, distribution, Internet and service industries. In addition to his CFO responsibilities, Mark has managed the human resources, MIS, legal affairs and strategic planning activities for several previous employers. Prior to joining CBR, Mark served as CFO of Inertia Dynamics Corporation, a NASDAQ listed lawn and garden products manufacturer, and was the CFO of Sandbox Entertainment, where he prepared the first registered Internet venture capital offering. Mark also has worked as an independent financial consultant, advising clients on capital structure, financial reporting, consolidations, budgeting and forecasting, as well litigation and business plans. Mark is a licensed CPA in Arizona and holds a Masters of Business Administration from Ohio State University. In 2007, he was named a finalist for the “Chief Financial Officer of the Year Awards” by Financial Executives Institute.
Noemi Barraza joined CBR seven years ago and now serves as the human resources support manager. Barraza brings to CBR more than nine years experience in the HR industry. She received her PHR degree from the University of Phoenix in 2006. Her areas of expertise include benefit administration; FMLA; orientations; COBRA; drug and background checks; handbook; policies; HR investigations; and advising CBR clients on how to properly handle terminations and incidents with employees. Barraza also is bilingual, making her an invaluable asset to the CBR team.
Becky Volz currently serves as the payroll manager for Creative Business Resources (CBR). She joined the company in 2004 and brings to CBR ten years experience in payroll management. In this role, Becky is responsible for oversight of the payroll department and its daily functions which includes processing and delivering on-time direct deposits for all CBR clients, payroll compliance, problem solving and new client set up. Becky is a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
Kym Varner joined the Creative Business Resources (CBR) team in 2001 and was promoted to Risk Manager in 2003. Her responsibilities include managing workers compensation policies, overseeing claim management, providing safety resources for clients and assessing clients’ risk management needs. Varner holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Angelo State University and a Master of Education degree from Texas Tech University. Recently, a requested speaker at NAPEO Conventions and Risk Management Workshops, Kym also holds an Associates degree in Risk Management and a Property and Casualty Producers license. Heavily involved in voluntary community service and ministry projects, Varner routinely participates in outreaches such as Angel Tree and Samaritan’s Purse, and serves as a Money Map Coach and a Bible study leader at her church. She also sits on the board of directors and the scholarship committee of a local ministry.
