Shifting into Cost-Cutting Mode
Businessweek.com by John Tozzi
According to John Tozzi from Business Week.com “rising costs and stagnant sales” are upon us, as if we already didn’t know. Holiday sales are definitely forecasted to be low so here are a few tips for small businesses in this economy. Even though your sales might go down as a result of cutting expenses (staff, office space etc) your financial ratio will still be better, so look at it as a temporary shift of cost to revenue comparison. The second thing all must realize is that new measures will probably have to be taken. Some business owners might have to evaluate how many cars they are paying for, people on payroll etc. in order to cut back on costs. Lastly, whatever you do, avoid the “death spiral” of debt, and just do what you can afford. The conclusion that can be reached from all of this is “As soon as you eliminate all that waste, it trickles down straight to the bottom line" and will eventually make you profitable.
