CBR Declares July
“Fall Hazard Awareness Month"
Slips, trips and falls cost American businesses $20 billion in 2006. They are also the most debilitating injuries to employees. Approximately 500 workers per year lose their lives in a fall, and another 50,000 suffer debilitation severe enough to keep them off work. On average, a worker injured in a fall will be without a paycheck for at least 14 days. Add hundreds of other slips and trips, often in “safe” environments such as office settings, medical facilities and retail stores, and we see how critical it is to protect employees from their greatest danger.
CBR’s Risk Department is teaming up with our carriers and loss consultants to address this danger. As president of CBR, I am backing this initiative by declaring July “Fall Hazard Awareness Month.”
We will officially kick off this initiative on June 26 at 10:00 am (Arizona time) with a Safety Webinar.
Please register for this webinar, or go to CBR’s Safety Training page for more information. Those who attend the webinar will also receive free resources to use during Fall Hazard Awareness Month. Those resources include:
- PowerPoint presentations that you may use in safety meetings.
- “Toolbox Topics” (including leader’s guides) that you may use in safety meetings.
- Tip sheets you may distribute to workers in safety meetings.
- Short quizzes you may use to evaluate what workers retained during safety meetings.
- Checklists you may use to evaluate fall hazards at worksites.
Let’s work together to keep your workers safe from their greatest danger: slips, trips and falls. The Safety Webinar will address fall hazards for all industries, and is geared to owners, managers and supervisors. So please take advantage of these free resources.
