Let's get real! Karma is right, but really, is it the fault of the employer why healthcare is so high? No, the employer is caught between the two worlds of run away costs of the healthcare industry and their employees that maybe eating one too many Big Macs. Employee health benefits are a money pit to the employer and they should not be expected to bare the brunt of the cost if their employees choose to live an unhealthy lifestyle, which ultimately drives up the cost.

What is an employer to do? They want to provide quality, affordable health care to their employees, but unable to do so by no fault of their own.

The employees should have to burden of higher cost if they are not going to take care of themselves. It is also unfortunate that the employees that do take good care of themselves share in the cost.

I do not forsee any changes to this problem until America looks at what they are consuming and takes responsibility for it and decides to make healthier choices.

I do not know if you have noticed, but even the carriers understand this that is why all the major carriers have launched wellness programs in effort to try to get their members to think about the choices they make when it comes to their health.
