True story. An individual was late to work once to often and was fired. He filed for unemployment benefits and told the state that his dog ate his alarm clock. Surprised by this, the state asked for additional details and learned that;
1) The dog was not big; only about 20lbs
2) The alarm clock was a standard clock radio alarm clock, about the size of a cigarette carton.
3) The dog actually ate the alarm clock, as opposed to just chewing it up. Actually swallowed it according to the claimant.
4) The dog appeared unharmed by the experience, and no, the claimant heard nothing while this was going on.

The state apparently found the claimant's story incredible, and he did not get benefits.
